Blood pressure numbers and what they mean
When you take a reading on your BP monitor, you receive 3 numbers: systolic BP (the highest number), diastolic BP (the lower number) and your heart rate.
Normal, healthy blood pressure is less than 120/80 (120 systolic and 80 diastolic).
The American Heart Association categorizes blood pressure ranges like this:
